Invacare Wheelchairs: Which One Is Right For You?

Invacare Corporation is one of the largest companies in the home medical products market. They manufacture and distribute a broad range of products using a network of independent home medical equipment providers. Invacare home medical products are available throughout the world. They have been pursuing an aggressive product development phase since 2001. In 2002, Invacare named golfing legend Arnold Palmer as their company spokesperson.

There is an almost unbelievable number of Invacare wheelchairs available. Wheelchairs have been Invacare's core business since the beginning. Invacare electric wheelchairs are available in six different product lines. Tarsus Powered Seating focuses on tilt and recline capabilities. The Invacare 2GTR is a highly maneuverable tilt and recline power wheelchair.

The Nutron series is part of Invacare's Consumer Power line of electric wheelchairs. It is fitted with a traditional rear-wheel drive, but it's compact design makes getting around obstacles easier. Another advantage in the Nutron series of Invacare power wheelchairs is its ability to fold for transport.

The Invacare 3G Arrow is part of their 3G Storm series. It also has rear-wheel drive, but adds a feature that Invacare calls "TrueTrack." This new technology is designed to make power wheelchair control easier and safer by keeping the chair on a straight track over different types of terrain. Invacare power wheelchairs in the TDX line ("Total Driving Experience") have a standard weight capacity of 400 pounds and a top speed up to 7.5 miles per hour. Almost all Invacare power wheelchairs have a three year warranty on the frame and seating, and a one year warranty on the motor and electronics.

Invacare also sells a full line of pediatric power wheelchairs. Their Power Tiger pediatric series features bright colors and modern styling that are attractive to kids. The control electronics are accurate and responsive. Seats are available in tilting and non-tilting versions.

Invacare manual wheelchairs are available in four different product lines. One of the most interesting products recently released by Invacare is the Top End Crossfire Titanium manual wheelchair. It is an ultra light rigid chair constructed from titanium. The wheelchair features an open design and has very few nuts or bolts, ensuring top performance with less maintenance and repair.

The Invacare IVC line of manual wheelchairs features a more traditional look. But with advances in design and technology, looks can be deceiving. Invacare's IVC Tracer series of manual wheelchairs are incredibly versatile, with options that allow custom-like fit for almost any user.

You can also purchase manual wheelchairs designed for a variety of sports from Invacare, including basketball, handcycling, rugby, racing and tennis. The company's Top End Eliminator OSR is a racing wheelchair with a futuristic three-wheel design that weighs only about 15 pounds.

Invacare has recently launched their 5-Star Service Plan. It provides nationwide coverage through a network of service technicians. Chairs are repaired using genuine Invacare wheelchair parts, and repairs are made on-site. In emergency situations, service calls are scheduled with 24 hours; normal service calls are scheduled with 48 hours. The plan is an optional program and only covers certain Invacare wheelchair models.
